SCOTUS Ruling Results In Rise In Vasectomies

The recent ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States reversing Roe v Wade has multiple implications in the medical arena.  The area that Dr. Parviz Kavoussi most notably saw this impact was in the number of men interested in pursuing vasectomy.  The number of men requesting consultations for vasectomy massively increased since the ruling.  Dr. Parviz Kavoussi states, “On the one hand, it is great to see men taking some of the onus of contraceptive responsibility which has traditionally been on women. However, vasectomy is not a procedure to be taken lightly and should still be approached as a permanent sterilization.  Although vasectomy reversal is an option in the future, as is sperm retrieval IVF, and the success rates are extremely high in experienced hands, it is not 100%, and these are much more expensive processes that rarely are covered by insurance.”

As a well-established leader in vasectomy and vasectomy reversal, Dr. Kavoussi was interviewed by multiple tv news stations regarding this topic including Austin’s KVUE, and Spectrum as well as Univision.  To watch these segments, click on the following links:
