The American Urological Association national meeting was held in San Francisco this year and there were over 16,000 urologists who attended it from all over the world. Dr. Parviz Kavoussi had the opportunity to present AFRM’s work on evaluating the factors that impact couple’s decision making when the male partner has previously had a vasectomy and they are interested in conceiving. The two options available for the couples include vasectomy reversal and sperm retrieval with IVF. AFRM is a unique private couples clinic who offers evaluation of both partners by respective specialists in male and female fertility so the couple has the opportunity to hear pluses and minuses of the two options from both specialists, and can select the option that fits them best. AFRM performed a study to evaluate what factors impact the decision making between the options including factors such as male partner age, female partner age, time since the vasectomy and ovarian reserve status.
Dr. Kavoussi states, “it was a truly exciting experience to present our data at the AUA national meeting. To get this important message out on such a large stage was really an honor.”
