June is Men’s Health Awareness Month. Male fertility is often an overlooked aspect of many couples’ fertility journeys. Although infertility impacts one in seven couples, a male factor is solely responsible in about 20% of cases and contributes alongside a female factor in an additional 40% of cases. This means that male factor infertility plays a role in approximately 60% of infertility cases. Despite this significant impact, men are often overlooked and remain an underserved part of the fertility equation, which can lead to suboptimal outcomes and place an unnecessary burden on the female partner.
Dr. Parviz Kavoussi was interviewed regarding the importance of evaluating and treating the male partner to optimize fertility outcomes for couples struggling with infertility.
