COVID-19 Safety Austin Fertility

Providing Safe Fertility Care During a Pandemic

“Primum non nocere” is Latin for “above all else do no harm”. This a part of the Hippocratic Oath that all physicians take, which has taken on a whole new meaning during the COVID 19 pandemic.  As time goes by, we learn how to better provide the highest quality fertility care in a safe manner. Our practice is mitigating risk by performing temperature checks on every individual that plans to enter any of our 3 facilities. This includes staff, physicians, and patients. All patients and staff are screened for respiratory symptoms, travel, and potential exposures.  Although disinfecting procedures in our clinical environment have always been a priority, these measures have been heightened. Telemedicine consultations are available. When in-office appointments are necessary, the appointment times are spaced out to optimize personal distancing. Although mitigation of risk cannot completely eliminate the risk of infection, it minimizes the risk to the lowest level possible. As we now understand this pandemic will not be over overnight and time is important for many couples trying to build their families, our fertility patients seeking care will be offered the highest level of female and male reproductive care, as this has always been the goal of AFRM, in as safe a manner as is possible.
