Although the field of male infertility is rapidly evolving, the scientific research is still far behind the female side as the major focus in infertile couples was primarily on the female partner prior to the understanding that 60% of couples with fertility challenges at least have a male factor contributing. Dr. Parviz Kavoussi recently co-authored a study evaluating recent developments in the field, current challenges, as well as future directions. Dr. Kavoussi states, “Although there are still a great deal of gaps in knowledge, we are constantly learning more to help couples with male infertility understand why they have the challenge they have and how to better overcome it. It is crucial we continue to perform high levels of research to advance the field.”
