Varicocele Guideline

Dr. Parviz Kavoussi co-authors publication on management of varicoceles

Varicocele is an abnormal dilation of veins around the testicle, which have a detrimental effect on testicular function and sperm. Varicocele is the most common cause of male infertility, diagnosed in 41% of men with infertility and 80% of men who did not have difficulty conceiving in the past and now do, termed secondary infertility. Dr. Parviz Kavoussi performs microsurgical varicocele repair on men with varicoceles impacting their fertility week in and week out and has performed over 1,000 of these minimally invasive procedures over the last decade and a half in Austin. He has co-authored a publication with recommended clinical guidelines on the management of varicoceles in infertile men in the World Journal of Men’s Health. Dr. Kavoussi states, “Repair of varicoceles in carefully selected men can significantly improve a man’s fertility, their ability to conceive and to maintain a pregnancy to term”.
