Historical perspective of surgical sperm retrieval techniques for nonobstructive azoospermia

Dr. Parviz Kavoussi authors paper on the history of surgical techniques for men with sperm counts of zero.

Men with sperm counts of zero in the semen wanting to father children with their own sperm commonly require surgical interventions to assist in their journey to fatherhood.  Dr. Parviz Kavoussi commonly performs such procedures to give men in this challenging situation an opportunity with high success rates. He recently authored a paper on the history of surgical techniques used to help men with no sperm in the semen. Dr. Kavoussi states, “I believe it is important to know where we have been to understand where we are going.  As we continue to work on research and advances to offer better options in the future, knowing our history is valuable as well.”
