Infertility Field Guide Chapters by Austin Fertility & Reproductive Medicine

Austin Fertility & Reproductive Medicine’s Doctors Write Chapters for the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Handbook for Clinicians

Dr. Shahryar Kavoussi and Dr. Parviz Kavoussi were both very honored to have the opportunity to contribute chapters to the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Handbook for Clinicians.  This book is a resource for clinicians who provide care for couples with subfertility to use.

Dr. Shahryar Kavoussi wrote chapter 26 on gamete preservation.  Dr. Kavoussi was asked to write this chapter in the 1st edition of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Handbook for Clinicians and has written the updated chapter in this 2nd edition as well.  Dr. Kavoussi describes this chapter as a “concise guide regarding fertility preservation options for females and males that are faced with cancer treatment as well as medical conditions that destroy oocytes and sperm.  The cryopreservation of oocytes, sperm, and/or embryos are real options that may hold promise for future fertility for such patients.  Dr. Dan Lebovic, Dr. John Gordon, and Dr. Rob Taylor developed this handbook, which is an invaluable resource for a wide variety of clinicians.  I consider it to be a privilege to be able to contribute to their excellent REI Handbook for Clinicians”.

Dr. Parviz Kavoussi felt very privileged to have the opportunity to be the only Reproductive Urologist who was asked to contribute a chapter to this book.  He wrote the sole chapter on male subfertility, chapter 20.  Dr. Kavoussi states, “this chapter is a pithy resource for clinicians to use to get an overall understanding of some of the intricacies of the evaluation and treatment of men with subfertility.  It was truly an honor to be involved with a book of this caliber with renowned editors and co-authors who are truly leaders in the field.”

As recognized leaders in reproductive health on both the female and male sides, both Dr. Shahryar Kavoussi and Dr. Parviz Kavoussi primarily focus on clinical practice to provide the highest level of fertility care for couples, but feel very strongly about the importance of contributing to education and research.
