In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Fertilizing the female partner's retrieved eggs by the male partner’s sperm in the IVF lab for transfer of embryo(s) into the uterus at the day 3 or day 5 (blastocyst) stage.

Day 3 Embryo: Day 5 Embryo:

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

In certain cases, most commonly in cases of severe male factor or when a couple has not had evidence of fertilization together in the past, ICSI would be recommended in order to have a motile sperm injected into the cytoplasm of the egg to increase the chances for fertilization.

Assisted Hatching

Opening the covering (zona pellucida) around the embryo in order to help it “hatch” and increase the chance of implantation, has shown to be helpful in certain cases.  This procedure is performed under the microscope with a pinpoint laser that opens the zona pellucida.

Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

In certain cases, a cell from the embryo is biopsied and a chromosome analysis of an embryo can be performed prior to embryo transfer.
